It is 2020
and UNL Extension is receiving a national award for Extension Excellence from
the national Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) on how
innovation has launched Extension into it second 100 years. Extension in this state has transformed our
states’ capacity to address issues critical to Nebraskans through their
Extension systems highly effective Action Team networks. The master of
ceremonies describes how UNL Extension tackles difficult issues such as water
conflicts, childhood obesity, and growth of rural communities to come so far so
fast. She documents how Extension has revolutionized informal education and
explains that this transformation was by far the single most important factor
in making Extension the success story of government funded programs – a model
for public value in USDA.
The “100
Years into the Future” UNL Extension Team collectively envisioned the
implementation of the action team model that resulted in achieving this
award. In looking back on their work,
they talked about their success.
